Experiment

Okay I know how maybe some of you think it is weird I have 2 pet rats. I got them on my vacation with my boyfriend he was pretty freaked out by it too. And my parents were not and still are not thrilled either. They really are amazing creatures to observe. I can be sitting on my bed doing homework and they will be sqeaking away at each other. Wish I know what they were saying. Or wrestling with each others. That is funny to watch. I have 2 rats both female becuase I did not want any reproduction. If you ever get a minute do some research on reproduction of Rats the numbers and how rapid is crazy.
Anyway what I wanted to mention was How Psychologist do tests with rats. So I decided to do one. Don't worry I didn't inject them with anything. But before I give my result I want to see what everyone thinks about my experiment before hand.

I tested whether or not rats like to turn one way for no reason. and if treats made a difference. I did a basic T maze they start at the bottom then choose left or right. I have a timid rat and a wild and crazy hyper rat so I wanted to see the difference. You know how some people have the problem of having to turn left they can't turn right. I have heard a little bit about it, but I read somewhere that Rat are suppose to be more customed to turning Left because there is a better chance for food. I didn't understand that. Anyway, I did some basic run throughs with boths rats but I need some insight before I give results.

Do you beleive some rats may be more apt to turn in one direction for no reason?
Do you think a treat will make a difference?
What differences do you think there will be between a hyper rat and a timid rat?
Do you think the rat remembers which way she went the first time then goes the opposite the next time?
You can think of these questions or come up with your own. I tested them about 7:30 at night so it was after a bunch of sleep becuase rats are mostly nocturnal. Anyway hope to get some thoughts on this.

What is Research

Research is important because it is how we get knowledge. You learn so much from research. If you are doing an assignment at school usually you have to research a certain topic. If you are watching something on television you are gaining insight on how media portrays life. Without research we would not understand how to observe something. Our history holds a lot of research in it too. The invention of the lightbulb or automobiles, they never would have come to be if it were not for research. you can read to do research you can actively do research. Example is you are researching a sport like basketball to get a better understanding of basketball you may want to try it yourself. Research has impacted my life because I have done research in my life that has given me the knowledge I have now. I learned that by being active in research you can learn for yourself why a certain topic may be appealing to someone else. I learned that whenever you do research you should give credit to where you found your research from. I also learned that research can be used in all aspects of life. Like the 3 door dilemma we did research by testing each strategy, and coming up with the best option for ourselves as individuals.

After Reading Into It

I had an idea on how psychology related to things we do and the way we handle things. now that I have read into it a little bit I see that it is so much more then the mind. It is expressions and feelings. How someone is raised can relate to psychology. I knew science was involved for the fact that psychologist had to study something to come up with the answers they had. I see that sometimes Psychology is all about asking the right questions. Questions like Why do we act a certain way? Why do people express there emotions so differently then other people? Coming up with a thought then finding a way to test that thought. At times people may have thought what a crazy person for thinking this way. Look at what it has become though. Over so many years it has went from a thought, an idea, to a world wide study. I am very excited to learn more. Psychology relates to me through everyday actions. How I talk to people. How I present myself. Making a decision to drive or ride the bus. What am I going to eat today. They are all decisions I have to make. Psychology is a huge part of everyone and everything. Even if they do not notice it.

Why men prefer direct pick up lines

Hey everyone,
I just read an article on Psyblog
It is called Why Men Prefer Direct Pick-Up Lines. It is interesting because it talks about experiments that were done to see why men always use direct approaches. Most men stated that they can't tell whether a women is interested or not. Even though women may think the are dropping hits or sending signs. Most men can not pick up on them. At the end they ask the question of Who has the guts to risk rejection with a direct approach? This is a good question. Anyway Most guys I know say then women are just to complicated. I believe that men just like to over complicate the simple things women do. Girl Power I guess.

What Do You Think

I have a question for everyone. I just read Cassie Haskins Blog and it was very insightful. It made me think about relations in people. Since psychology is the study of the mind. Since suicide is sometimes caused by mental or emotional states. Is there a connection that makes suicide a hereditary problem. Ex: You know if you have to fill paperwork out at a hospital one question I see sometimes is Does suicide run in your family? Well in my Family I have had two suicides on the same side of the family, before I was born. I am just wondering is it possible and if so How? I would really like everyones insight on this. I am really curious. My grandma did it and her uncle did it. Is There a Connection???

Introduction

Hey Everyone,
My name is Fawn Taber. I am 17 years old, and was born on October 1, 1991. I have attended Flambeau all my life. My life has been shapen by many things. I beleive that the mistakes I have made in the past are what have made me the person I am today. If it were not for the mistakes I have made in the past, I wouldn't have the knowledge I have now. Learning from my mistakes was the best lesson ever. They have made me a stronger and better person. Proudly I say that I am not perfect. I would not take back any of my mistakes. To me, Psycology is important to study, because it can be used to see others in another perspective. People have to take into consideration that everyone's lives are different, so everyone's thoughts are different. Psychology is not only the study of how people think, An understandment of Psychology is also useful to see our own lives as well as others. Realizing people are all different and unique. Not just on the outside, but on the inside too. Knowing this lets people see that everyone's lives are effected by different things and in different ways. Feelings and Dreams are different in everyone.
