Waiting and thinking
My boyfriend is still waiting for his phone call and when he is leaving for basic. I have been thinking a lot about it. Why is it the things we dread or worry about are the things that we worry about the most. I really want him to go because I know it will be a good choice for him. At the same time I am worried of losing him. That something will come between us. I wonder why we don't think about things that make us happy or upbeat in some way. We always think more about the bad things that could happen, or the things that we are upset about. Our emotions have a huge effect on us. But why do our brains or just us thrive on the bad things.
language
It is amazing to know that depending on where you are raised has an effect on how your language will develop. Not only is language different in countries, but have you thought about accents. I mean if you are raised in the south or whatever your are known to have a southern accent. Or how people from England speak english like us but we have a different accent then they do. Depending on the region you like in will effect your accent. Have any of you ever been told you have an accent. My cousin married a guy from Alabama and he had a really funny accent. But he told me that I was the one with and accent. It is funny to notice the different accents as well as different languages.
Chapter 9
Have you ever thought about what other people are thinking. I mean take and example like 9/11 We were all how young probably sitting at school when we heard and teachers turned the televisions on. we were all thinking what is going on. Did you ever stop and think what were the people on the plane or in the twin towers thinking. Did they see it coming, had they been thinking about their family, friends, or just themselves. We never usually stop and think about what others are thinking. I think in the society we are raised in we are more apt to be concerned about ourselves before others. Thats my opinion.

Fighting with others
mood-congruent memory
Has any one had this happen before. Have you ever started argueing with or yelling at your parents, boyfriend, or just a friend and then forget why you were fighting in the first place. This has happened multiple times to me. Arugueing with my mom and so many things are said that the reason for starting is totally lost. I feel so stupid when that happens. I have also started crying for no reason at all at least not one that I could recall. What is everyone opinion on how moods can effect our memory? Do you feel it may play a big part?

Writing while studying
I was wondering, is it true that taking notes on something whether it is a lecture or vocabulary for a class is suppose to help students remember better. I mean I have wrote down things a lot but have not been able to remember them. I suppose some people may be able to see it written down and are able to store it better becuase you actually have to write it out. I have heard this from many teachers. They must have learned it from somewhere. Is it possible. If I study enough I should be able to pass a test, but is it possible for my brain to feel the informationI study is not imortant enough to remember. What do you all think about taking notes?
Chap 7
This chapter was interesting. I mean it is very interesting how many things we have to remember. Everything from names to phone numbers to smells and sounds. Our brains have huge jobs. Breaking every part of our daily lives down and storing for later on. It is nice to think about how different it is to retrieve memories. Something you might have heard or learned today may be harder to remember then something youo learned 3 years ago. I feel that people who experience the same event may remember it differently then other do. We learned everyone perceives things differently. That is why people have different memories of a similar event. Different peoples brains found different things to be important. About trusting my memory. Sometimes I could I mean my brain is suppose to focus on the important things. All though at times I could be told something and forget it 5 minutes later. Or be so sure about something and then find out you were wrong the whole time. I hate when that happens. Do our brains decieve us or are we just not thinking enough. Good wuestion I would say

College Tour
I had a college tour this weekend at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Our chapter is related to learning. It was very interesting to walk around and see the college. It is a very big college. I really like what I saw today. I realized that things are very different when you see them in another point of view. I had viewed the college on the computer and read up on it. Once I got there and actually seen it and talked to some of the people I could not beleive it it was so amazing. A lot of facilities to accomadate a student. I was very impressed. Anyway if any of you have examples of a time where you thought you knew about something, then were totally taken back by it?

Conditioning
Our teacher is right. We are all conditioned to the bell and we don't even realize it. Whether we are hard at work, dosing off, or daydreaming we hear the bell and we hurry to get out of the room. It is interesting to know that we have been conditioned our hole life and don't even realize it. The example about onion breath and kissing on p. 297 makes a lot of sense. I mean the whole onion breath aspect is disgusting. On the other hand if you think about a relationship you may have been in or someone else has been in. One things most girls and guys become accustomed to is there partners smell. Whether it is a cologne, perfume, or sweating after a sport. That smell is enough to remind you of that person. When ever I take my boyfriends sweaters I love smelling them. When I am away from him, it reminds me of him. Another example is when he lays in my bed for so long when he leaves my pillow still smells like him. I love it. I am not the only one who enjoys this. I have spoken to a bunch of my friends and they agree. I never understood it entirely until now. We are being conditioned to our loved one. I think it is very interesting that something as simple as a scent can set us off, or trigger a memory. What do you think?

Chap 7 Learning
I found this chapter to be interesting, but at the same time there is stuff we already learn. I think that over time as you grow up, you learn all the techniques of learning but we don't realize it. I mean every child is taught something in a different way. For the most part we learn learning over time. The Rats and other animal experiments were interesting, because it is cool to know that they can train a rat that well. B. F. Skinner has a great view on technology learning. Thinking that a child should be notified if they are correct right away, instead of waiting till the end of thing like tests. There is a lot of things to do on the computer. But it more learning was that way it would be amazing.
Learning by Observation really caught my eye. I am definately someone who has to see it done first instead of just being told. You can watch see what you think they did wrongm and fix it any way you would like. The Violence from video games and television can ruin the development of a child. If a child is spanked frequently, how do you think that person may raise their kid. Kids aften get in fights and think it is cool because they saw it on television or a video game. I think violent video games are not a good thing. They ruin kids minds.
The entire Chapter was interesting I learned a lot about learning.
