What Do You Think

I have a question for everyone. I just read Cassie Haskins Blog and it was very insightful. It made me think about relations in people. Since psychology is the study of the mind. Since suicide is sometimes caused by mental or emotional states. Is there a connection that makes suicide a hereditary problem. Ex: You know if you have to fill paperwork out at a hospital one question I see sometimes is Does suicide run in your family? Well in my Family I have had two suicides on the same side of the family, before I was born. I am just wondering is it possible and if so How? I would really like everyones insight on this. I am really curious. My grandma did it and her uncle did it. Is There a Connection???

  1. I am sorry to hear your misfortune, but i believe there is no connection. My opinion is that a person make this horrible decision based on the fact that they are depressed, or something so bad has happened to them they just don't feel the need to live. Its bad stuff, i know, but its like saying since a dad drinks beer that his children will drink beer because of the genes he has.

  2. I'm really sorry to hear about your family members. In my opinion, I don't think that suicide is hereditary, but I do think that if you've experienced losing someone in this manner, one may look into it more than others and, cosequently, be a bit more inclined to do the same. One may wonder "did she have it right?" or become depressed after a loved one's death. So yes, there may be a connection, but not a genetic one.
