Evolutionary Psychology and Sexual Attitudes

Okay, This video I found was interesting. It talks about why most people are attracted to the opposite sex. Psychologist of course have done a study on this. All around the world and found that because we evolve over time. Most people want to have sex with someone of the opposite sex because that is how over time it has been done. I beleive in you know how there is a natural attraction at times. A lot of people have different preferences in the opposite sex whether it is tall, skinny, muscular, smarts or what ever. And yea there are people who like others of the same sex and that is just fine. It just states how a great percentage of people like and want to have sex with people of the opposite sex. It is understandable. And the video I guess makes sense if you really think about it. What are your opinions?

    I agree. It does make sense that a vast majority of people are heterosexual. Because a fertile relationship is one between a male and a female, it is the trait that is passed down from generation to generation.

    I also agree. It is in our genetic makeup I think. If we would go back to the caveman days, that was the only way to have the human race survive. I think people who are homosexual maybe don't have the same primal instincts in their brain. But then again, there could have been homosexual cavemen.

    True... but what confuses me is if sexuality is a trait that is passed down from generation to generation, why is it that there are still homosexuals. Obviously, their parents weren't homosexual or they wouldn't have been born, so how could they have inherited those traits. I think that it is very possible that sexuality is a trait that develops from our experiences and choices.
